TOP TEN THINGS BOOMER WOMEN WANT IN
2007
The Official List:
1. Love. We want the people of the world to love each other and to love God. We
desire to make a difference.
2. Peace and safety. We want our children and grandchildren to be safe from
predators, guns, environmental disasters, and war.
3. A world where truth is our highest value, especially from our leaders.
4. Financial security.
5. To travel for adventure, rest, and to visit family and friends.
6. Assurance that our government sponsored retirement benefits and Medicare will
be there when we need them.
7. Affordable, quality healthcare, including prescription drugs, for our
parents, families, and our present and future selves.
8. To participate in our healthfulness and well-being. We want doctors to listen
to our concerns and work proactively with us to keep our bodies healthy and fit.
9. A realistic portrayal of our generation in commercials, catalogs, and media
print. We want a more positive depiction of boomer women in movie, books and TV.
10. The fashion world to recognize we still like to feel and look pretty.
The following are three lists that were particularly insightful.

Sharon is retired, happily married and gratefully addicted to the Boomer Women
Speak website. Her book Eagle Born to Fly: Finding Life Beyond Depression is a
triumphant story of hope and survival, showing how courage and truth can win out
over the despair and mangled thinking that so often characterize clinical
depression.
1. Boomer women want to participate more in our own healthfulness and
well-being. We want doctors to listen to our concerns and work proactively
TOGETHER to keep these boomer bodies as healthy as possible.
2. Boomer women want financial security.
3. Boomer women want time in the midst of family and social obligations to
explore our own creative passions.
4. Boomer women want our lives to make a difference.
5. Boomer women want to be “wounded healers” – we want our past struggles
through adversity to bring wisdom and guidance to others who stumble along
similar roads.
6. Boomer women want to rediscover the world around us, to take time (time we
never had before while raising families) to explore, experience and revel in the
beauty of nature.
7. Boomer women want to be free to be the person we’ve grown up to be. After all
the years of struggling to find who we are, we want the chance to BE the person
we’ve become.
8. Boomer women want to live life at their own pace.
9. Boomer women want peace in the world. We want to build bridges.
10. Boomer women want our children and grandchildren to be safe. Safe from

Maturity is bringing Lynn the realization that family matters more than any of
those other goals and the worry that it is in great jeopardy in North American
society. She is a freelance writer in the Okanagan Valley in B.C.
In 2007 boomer women want what their mothers and grandmothers wanted - a happy
family. That means that on the home front we want:
* children who want marriage and babies,
* children who will persevere with their spouses even when tempted to leave,
* children who spend time with their children rediscovering games, camping and
holidays with the grandparents,
* grandsons willing to delay gratification, work hard and spend their time in
the real world instead of a virtual one,
* granddaughters strong enough to buck the dictates of fashion and cultural
pressures toward promiscuity,
And on the community front we want:
* legal recognition that violence, drugs and sodomy are not appropriate subjects
for family sit-coms and cartoons,
* permanent removal of convicted pedophiles from our communities,
* return to Disney characters and baby animals on children’s clothing instead of
Satanic symbols, and
* lawmakers with child-centered values.
